MASSENA, N.Y. – Meg McKee and Grace Delurey scored two goals each to lead the Hoosick Falls Central School girls soccer team to an emphatic 5-0 victory against Tupper Lake in a Class-C state quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon at Massena High School.

Hoosick Falls (19-1-1) opened up a 3-0 lead at the break despite playing into a stiff breeze, said coach Tom Husser, whose squad extended its unbeaten run to 14 games. The Lumberjacks (13-7) only managed two shots in the game.

“The girls were pretty fired up. The senior leadership was just incredible,” Husser said.

Delurey finished with two assists to go along with the two tallies, while McKee also added an assist. Mackenzie Hinchcliffe netted the opener for the Panthers; Jordyn Haynes and Maritza Gonzalez chipped in with assists.

“We played really well. I think we dominated the middle of the field with Maritza, Meg, Mackenzie and Rachel Pine,” Husser said.

The Panthers advance to the state semifinals in Cortland next weekend. They will face Section III winner Tully on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Tompkins-Cortland Community College in Dryden.
