HOOSICK FALLS TRAVEL SOCCER PROGRAM
Travel Schedule for the 2009 Spring Season
About the HOOSICK FALLS REC/In-House SOCCER PROGRAM
The Rec/In-House program is offered in the Spring and Fall and is open to children registered in grades kindergarden through sixth. Co-ed teams are formed with a balance based on experience, gender, and maturity. The basic philosophy of the program is to develop a passion for the game through skill development and sportsmanship. Games are non-result oriented with a focus on having fun (kids first).
The season generally runs six weeks, with games played on Saturday mornings. Practices typically are held one evening each week.
The club offers a TOPS soccer program which is an adaptive program for children with special needs.
About the HOOSICK FALLS TRAVEL SOCCER PROGRAM
OVERVIEW OF THE FALL PROGRAM
The Hoosick Falls Soccer Club participates within the Southwestern Vermont Youth Soccer League (SWVTYSL) for the fall season. The SWVTYSL organizes teams by grade level ie. 4th, 5th and 6th grade boys and girls.
Participating towns are, but not limited to , Hoosick Falls, Bennington VT, Greenwich NY, Cambridge NY, Arlington VT, Manchester VT, Wilmington VT, Berlin NY, West River VT and Salem NY. Games are on Saturday's and there are on average 7 games per season.
Coaches typically run two practices a week and then the game on Saturday. Teams can hold a 14-player roster. Games are played six fielders plus a keeper. Game times vary, the earliest start time is 11:30am and the latest is 2:30pm.
Children grades 7-12 are encouraged to participate in their local school programs.
OVERVIEW OF THE SPRING PROGRAM
The HFSC particiipates in the Capital District Youth Soccer League during the spring season. This league is substantially larger and more competitive than the SWVTYSL, with players ranging in age from 10 to 19. Teams are organized by age, with the cutoff being the age of the child on July 31 of the year of play. eg a U10 player cannot be 11 years or older by the upcoming 31st of July. Most teams are even numbered years; eg U10, U12, U14, etc.. Teams are placed in divisions of similar competitive levels. Games are scheduled one to two times per week, with the season running from the end of April to the end of June. Each team is scheduled to play a total of twelve games.
Spring travel involves a heavier schedule than the fall season. Most teams practice/play three to four times per week. Most games are played with a travel distance of 15 to 50 miles.
Thank you Coaches!
The success of the Soccer Club is wholly driven by the support of community volunteers and parent participation. Last year over 300 children participated in the Soccer Club's Rec/In-House and Travel Team Leagues thanks to the time and effort of volunteer coaches.
